Sodium 1-undecanesulfonate is a trisubstituted sodium salt of the dodecyl sulfonic acid. It is a solid that has a phase transition temperature of 99.5 °C. The undecane group in this compound is responsible for its water solubility. Sodium 1-undecanesulfonate has been shown to exhibit photocatalytic activity and thermal expansion properties, as well as transport properties in deionized water. This compound also has been shown to have calcium carbonate adsorption properties and to be able to form an organic layer on hydrophobic surfaces by forming monolayers with fatty acids.
