Diamyl sulfate is a chemical compound that has been used as a viscosity agent in various products, such as paints and varnishes. It is also used as an acid catalyst to promote the formation of tautomers. Diamyl sulfate has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in mice and reduce hepatic steatosis in rats. Diamyl sulfate can inhibit methionine aminopeptidase, which is an enzyme involved in the synthesis of proteins from amino acids.
