(R)-N-Methyl-alpha-phenylethylamine is a chiral, enantiopure amine that can be used for the synthesis of bioactive compounds. This compound has been shown to have catalytic and enantioselective properties in the synthesis of biaryls, alcohols, and stereochemically pure amines. The axial coordination mode of this compound allows it to serve as a ligand in asymmetric catalysis with ancistrotanzanine or methylbenzylamine.
