Descrição:2-Benzyl pyridine is a synthetic molecule that consists of a benzene ring with two methyl groups attached to it. It has been shown to have coordination geometry, acidic properties, and glycoconjugates. 2-Benzyl pyridine has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of 1,3-benzodioxole-5-carboxylic acid. This compound also has enzyme activities that are dependent on its acidic property. The x-ray crystal structures show the hydrogen bonding and the hydroxyl group interactions between 2-benzyl pyridine and glut1. 2-Benzyl pyridine was also found to be effective in inhibiting skin cancer cells when combined with other drugs such as 5-fluorouracil (5FU) or cisplatin.
