2-Benzoxazolone is a natural compound with the potential to be used as an anti-inflammatory and anticancer agent. It has shown inhibitory properties against the growth of human leukemia cells, k562 cells, in vitro. 2-Benzoxazolone has been shown to have a hypoglycemic effect on mice by regulating energy metabolism and inhibiting acetylcholinesterase activity. It also inhibits the activity of some enzymes such as phosphodiesterase and cyclooxygenase. 2-Benzoxazolone has significant cytotoxicity in vitro in mammalian cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit p-hydroxybenzoic acid oxidase, leading to increased production of hydrogen peroxide and superoxide radical. The compound also showed insecticidal effects when tested on Drosophila melanogaster larvae.
