Descrição:4-Bromo-2,2-diphenyl butyronitrile is an industrial chemical used in the production of other chemicals. It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents such as hydrochloric acid. 4-Bromo-2,2-diphenyl butyronitrile may be used to produce morphine by reacting with acetic anhydride and pyridine. This reaction occurs at a rate that is dependent on the concentration of 4-bromo-2,2-diphenyl butyronitrile. The product of this reaction has been shown to bind to opioid receptors in vitro, and it has been used as a model for pain relief in vivo. 4-Bromo-2,2-diphenyl butyronitrile also acts as a substrate for Pgp efflux pumps, which can lead to its accumulation in tissues such as the brain.
