2-(4-Bromo-2-chlorophenoxy)propanohydrazide is a hydrogen bond planar compound with a carbonyl group and two residues. It has been detected in the environment as a pesticide residue, most likely from herbicide use. 2-(4-Bromo-2-chlorophenoxy)propanohydrazide has been shown to have insecticidal properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of chitin in insects. The compound is extracted from the environment using an acidified dichloromethane solution and then purified by column chromatography. The mass spectrum of 2-(4-bromo-2-chlorophenoxy)propanohydrazide shows peaks at m/z 227, 235, and 259.
