Bromomethylcyclopentane is a cyclopentyl analog that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Bromomethylcyclopentane binds to toll-like receptor (TLR) 4, which is expressed on immune cells and mediates the inflammatory process. It inhibits platelet aggregation by preventing the conversion of thromboxane A2 (TXA2) to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2). This drug can be used as an antiplatelet agent, but has also been shown to inhibit the production of allylstannanes. Bromomethylcyclopentane is not active against cellulose derivatives or cyclopentane rings.
