It prevents the synthesis of viral DNA by binding to the RNA template and preventing chain elongation. This drug has been shown to be an effective treatment for some types of cancer, such as lung cancer, because it is not easily metabolized and can therefore reach high concentrations in tissues where it is needed. 2-Bromo-5-fluorobenzoic acid is synthesized from 5-(2′-bromophenoxy)benzothiazole and 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzoyl chloride in three steps.
