2-Bromo-4,5-dimethoxybenzoyl chloride is a synthetic chemical compound that has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of styrene and other organic compounds. The compound reacts with styrene to produce benzyne, which can be photocyclized to form a variety of products. 2-Bromo-4,5-dimethoxybenzoyl chloride also reacts with chlorides to form benzyne, which can be thermolyzed to form a variety of natural products including fagaronine and amide. This chemical has also been synthesized for use as an intermediate in the synthesis of protoberberines.
