4-Bromo-2-fluorobenzyl bromide is an antimycobacterial agent. It inhibits the growth of mycobacteria by binding to the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. 4-Bromo-2-fluorobenzyl bromide has potent inhibition against tuberculosis, with a MIC of 1 μM. This compound has shown potent inhibition activity against drug target and potential drug target enzymes. The asymmetric synthesis of 4-bromo-2-fluorobenzyl bromide was achieved using a highly efficient method that can be applied to other similar compounds.
