3-tert-Butylhexanedioic acid is a fatty acid that is used as an analogue of arachidonic acid. It has been shown to induce regression in mice with transplanted tumors, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme enoyl reductase. 3-tert-Butylhexanedioic acid also has anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in tumor growth and progression. This compound can be used as a substitute for pioglitazone and caffeine in chromatographic methods.
