In addition, it has been found to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and induce locomotor activity and fatty acid release in rodents. 9,9-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene is water soluble with a monosodium salt form. It has a hydrogen bond donor that can form hydrogen bonds with hydrophilic groups on proteins or DNA bases.
