Descrição:Benzenepropanoic acid, 2-hydroxy-.alpha.-oxo (BPAOH) is a metabolite of Phenylpyruvic acid. It is an organic compound that has the chemical formula C8H8O3. It is produced by the oxidation of phenylalanine and is excreted in urine as benzoic acid, a water-soluble substance. BPAOH was identified as a metabolite of Phenylpyruvic acid in human urine and plasma by chromatographic analysis. The most common form of this compound has the chemical name 2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)-benzoic acid or 2-hydroxyethoxybenzoic acid (2HEBA). This compound can be found in plants, animals, and microorganisms.
