1-Bromo-2-isopropylbenzene is a toxic metal that is nonpolar and has a magnetic susceptibility. It is a putative benzothiazepine that reacts with aryl chlorides to form chiral phosphanes. 1-Bromo-2-isopropylbenzene can react with the chloride ion to form a constant of deshielding, which may be due to its ability to shield the electron density at the bromine atom. 1-Bromo-2-isopropylbenzene also reacts with oxygen atoms, forming an oxygen population.
