- 4-Bromopyridine-2-methanol
(4-Bromopyridin-2-yl)methanol is a synthetic chemical that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer. This compound binds to the acetyl group on DNA, thereby preventing the binding of acetylases and leading to an increase in viscosity. The hydration of (4-bromopyridin-2-yl)methanol is also enhanced by its ability to coordinate with chloride ions. In addition, this compound has been shown to have nucleophilic properties and can react with other molecules such as naphthalene or chloride. The increased viscosity may also lead to an increase in contact time between the drug and cancer cells, resulting in greater cell death.
