Tert-Butyl 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate is a pyridine compound that is used as an analgesic and antipyretic. It has both analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, which are mediated by the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Tert-Butyl 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate binds to the receptor on neuronal cells in the brain, resulting in pain relief and decreased inflammation. This drug also inhibits the release of acetylcholine in the brain, which causes muscle relaxation and decreases sensitivity to pain.
