1-Bromo-2-methoxynaphthalene is a bromonaphthyl compound that can be synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction. It can be used to cleave bonds in organic molecules and has been used in the synthesis of 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, which can also be synthesized from chloride and acetonitrile. The thermal energy required for this reaction is usually provided by microwaves or an oven. This compound has a variety of uses, including as a nucleophilic agent in organic synthesis, as well as for cross-coupling with other organometallic reagents such as Grignard reagents. In addition, 1-Bromo-2-methoxynaphthalene can be used to determine the presence of chloride ions using NMR spectra.
