(4aS,7aS)-6-Benzyloctahydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridine is a catalytic hydrogen fluoride dehydrogenation catalyst. It has been shown to be highly efficient in the hydrogenation of a number of different hydrocarbons and the preparation process for this compound is not well understood. The chemical structure of this compound is similar to that of pyridine or piperidine, but there are some differences. This compound is prepared by a chloroplatinic reduction of (4aS,7aS)-6-benzyloctahydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridine with palladium chloride and hydroxide solution.
