2-Bromo-5-methoxypyridine is a heterocycle that belongs to the class of thiazolones. It is a pyridyl derivative and has been used as a ligand in transition metal complexes. 2-Bromo-5-methoxypyridine has been shown to be catalytic at temperatures between -50 °C and 100 °C. This molecule has also been shown to undergo mesomorphic transitions at -80 °C, which are reversible and repeatable. The pyridyl group on this compound can form hydrogen bonds with neighbouring molecules, which may be due to its ability to form multiple hydrogen bonds with water molecules. 2-Bromo-5-methoxypyridine can also form hydrogen bonds with diphenyl ethers, which are aromatic compounds found in many organic solvents.
