Tert-Butyl 3-hydroxy-4-pentenoate is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells in culture by binding to the 6-phosphate group in ATP, which blocks the synthesis of DNA and RNA. Tert-Butyl 3-hydroxy-4-pentenoate has also been shown to inhibit the lipase and phosphatase activities of cancer cells. The kinetic properties of tert-butyl 3-hydroxy-4-pentenoate have been studied using microsomes from rat liver, with an IC50 value of 0.2 μM for lipase inhibition and 0.5 μM for phosphatase inhibition.
