Benzylboronic acid is a drug target for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used to inhibit glucose monitoring in the body and has been shown to be effective in treating type 2 diabetes by inhibiting gluconeogenesis. Benzylboronic acid has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and TLR2, which are involved in the inflammatory response, as well as TLR9, which is involved in the activation of B cells. Benzylboronic acid also inhibits bortezomib, an anti-cancer drug that can cause bone marrow suppression. Benzylboronic acid binds to pyridinium derivatives and esters with nucleophilic groups and forms a covalent bond with them through cross-coupling reactions. This process leads to the formation of a new compound that contains a carbonyl group.
