3-bromomethyl-pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butylester is a potent inhibitor of fatty acid synthesis. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells, and has been investigated as a possible treatment for cancer. 3-bromomethyl-pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butylester inhibits the growth of various types of cancer cells, including ovarian cancer cells. This drug also inhibits the production of malonyl coenzyme A (CoA), which is an important intermediate in fatty acid biosynthesis. The oral bioavailability and pharmacodynamics of 3-bromomethyl-pyrrolidine-1 carboxylic acid tert butylether have not yet been determined.
