Buflomedil is a hydrogen tartrate that acts as an agonist of the adenosine receptor. Buflomedil has been shown to have analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects in human subjects, but its use is limited due to possible side effects such as hypotension and tachycardia. It is also used for the treatment of infectious diseases, such as malaria. In addition, buflomedil hydrochloride inhibits glucose production by the liver, which can be beneficial in patients with diabetes mellitus. This drug has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with other drugs, such as insulin.
