Bisphenol A diphosphate is a cross-linking agent that can be used to form covalent bonds between the functional groups of polymers. It is a high-molecular weight compound that has been shown to increase the formation rate of polyvinyl pyrrolidone in deionized water. Bisphenol A diphosphate also increases the rate of polymerization when it is activated by an acid catalyst. This compound is not soluble in water, but it can be dissolved in organic solvents such as acetone or chloroform. The average particle diameter of this compound is about 0.2 micrometers and it has a melting point of about 220 degrees Celsius.
