Benzyl4-(benzyloxy)-5-methoxy-2-nitrobenzoate is a potent inhibitor of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptor phosphorylation. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cultured human platelets stimulated with PDGF and to reduce carotid artery thrombus formation in mice. The compound also inhibits the binding of PDGF to its receptors, which leads to decreased activation of downstream signalling pathways that are involved in cell proliferation and survival. Benzyl4-(benzyloxy)-5-methoxy-2-nitrobenzoate has been shown to have a synergistic effect with methoxyethoxy and ethoxyethoxy, two other inhibitors of PDGF receptor phosphorylation.
