Tert-butyl (1,3-dihydroxypropan-2-yl)carbamate is an organic chemical compound that is synthesized from trifluoroacetic acid. It has been shown to be a potent antibacterial against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Tert-butyl (1,3-dihydroxypropan-2-yl)carbamate was found to be more effective when applied in combination with the antibiotic ciprofloxacin than when used alone. This chemical also has the ability to inhibit influenza virus in vitro. Tert-butyl (1,3-dihydroxypropan-2-yl)carbamate is soluble in water and cell culture media. The drug encapsulation technique may be used for delivery of this compound.
