(E)-3-(3-Bromophenyl)-N-ethylacrylamide is a chemical that binds to and inhibits the activity of carbamazepine, an anticonvulsant. The analog was prepared by reacting 3-bromo phenylacetic acid with ethyl acrylate in the presence of triethylamine. It is used as a standard in clinical studies and to prepare samples for mass spectrometry. (E)-3-(3-Bromophenyl)-N-ethylacrylamide has been shown to be an epileptic agent and depressant.
