tert-Butyl 4-chlorobutylcarbamate is an organic compound that has been shown to be a solvent for copper and nitrobenzene. It is soluble in thionyl chloride, chloroform, and other chlorinated solvents. The compound forms an addition product with acid anhydrides, diacids, and chloride ion. The compound also reacts with transition metal salts to form complexes at high temperatures. This chemical is stable up to a transition temperature of 180°C, where it begins to decompose thermally. It is also a thermoplastic material that can be cross-linked by heat or ultraviolet light to form a thermoset plastic.
