1,12-Benzfluoranthene is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is used in analytical chemistry and supramolecular chemistry. 1,12-Benzfluoranthene is a useful compound for binding experiments because of its hydroxyl group and aromatic ring. It has been shown to bind to the proton of water. 1,12-Benzfluoranthene has been used as a molecular model to study the effects of protonation on aromatic hydrocarbons. 1,12-Benzfluoranthene has also been used to study carbohydrate metabolism in the liver. This chemical has not been well studied in humans but animal studies have shown it can cause health effects such as increased plasma mass spectrometry and dry weight.
