N-Benzylpyrrolidine is an amine that has been found in urine samples. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of the toll-like receptor, which is involved in inflammatory diseases. N-Benzylpyrrolidine inhibits serotonin reuptake and exhibits antidepressant properties. It also increases the release of dopamine from nerve cells and can be used as a dopamine receptor agonist. This drug is manufactured by reacting benzaldehyde with pyrrolidinone, followed by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid or trifluoroacetic acid. The isolated yield is around 74% with a purity of 99%.
