3-Benzyl-6-bromo-2-chloroquinoline is a quinoline that can be synthesized from 3,4-dichloroaniline. The synthesis process involves the reaction of aniline with chlorobenzene and bromine in the presence of potassium carbonate to produce 3,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde. This compound is then converted to 3,4-dichloroquinoline by treatment with hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite. Finally, a base such as sodium hydroxide is used to convert the 3,4-dichloroquinoline into 3-benzyl-6-bromoquinoline via the reaction of dichloromethane and benzyl chloride.
3-Benzyl-6-bromoquinoline has been shown to have high yield and can be used as a synthetic intermediate for other compounds.
