1,2-Bis[(2S,5S)-2,5-diisopropylphospholano]benzene is a chiral phosphine ligand that is used in asymmetric catalysis. It was first prepared by the reaction of phosphine with 2,5-diisopropylbenzene to give a mixture of enantiomers. The resulting racemic mixture can be resolved into its individual enantiomers by crystallization. 1,2-Bis[(2S,5S)-2,5-diisopropylphospholano]benzene has a chiral center and two asymmetric carbon atoms. This compound can act as a reagent in asymmetric synthesis and is soluble in nitrogen.
