1-bromo-8-chloro-naphthalene is a chemical compound that has been used in research for its antifungal and anticancer activities. It has been shown to have an effect on cancer cells, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and inducing apoptosis. 1-Bromo-8-chloro-naphthalene also inhibits the production of epidermal growth factor (EGF), which may be responsible for its anticancer activity. This compound can also inhibit the production of insulin, which may be responsible for its antidiabetic properties. 1-Bromo-8-chloro-naphthalene binds to receptor tyrosine kinase and inhibits the activation of this receptor by epidermal growth factor (EGF). 1-Bromo-8-chloro-naphthalene was also found to inhibit the expression of EGF receptor when it was added to human skin cell cultures.
