2-[(4-Bromomethyl)phenyl]pyridine is a white crystalline solid that can be prepared by reacting 4-bromo-2-chlorobenzene with hexamethylenetetramine. 2-[(4-Bromomethyl)phenyl]pyridine has been used in the preparation of organic compounds, such as piperidine and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline derivatives. This compound has been shown to exist as both a monomer and dimer. The molecule adopts an axial conformation with the phenyl group on one side of the plane. The crystal structure was solved for this compound using x-ray diffraction data.
