Bis(2-hydroxy-5-chlorophenyl) sulfide is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that binds to calcium in the body. It has been shown to have significant effects on energy metabolism and protein synthesis, which may be related to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Bis(2-hydroxy-5-chlorophenyl) sulfide is used for the treatment of bowel disease, including inflammatory bowel disease and ulcerative colitis. This compound has been shown to decrease the risk of colon cancer in high risk groups.
