Bis(vinylsulfonyl)propanol is a cross-linker that has been shown to crosslink collagen, albumin, and myoglobin. It binds to the phosphate group of serum albumin, forming a covalent bond with the protein. This linker also has affinity for the amino acid histidine, which is found in many proteins. Bis(vinylsulfonyl)propanol can be used to form cross-links in molecules such as bovine serum albumin by binding with the phosphate groups on both proteins. This process causes interchain crosslinkages that stabilizes the molecule and prevents it from unfolding or denaturing.
