2-Bromopyridine-5-boronic acid is an alkanoic acid with a boronic acid substituent. It has been used as a sealant in the manufacture of x-ray diffraction glasses and to improve the optical properties of polymers. The compound has also been used as a polymerization initiator for waterborne coatings, size exclusion chromatography, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. 2-Bromopyridine-5-boronic acid is also a substrate molecule for receptor subtypes that recognize p-hydroxybenzoic acid (pHBA), which are involved in the immune response to bacterial infection.
2-Bromopyridine-5-boronic acid reacts with potassium hexafluorophosphate (KHF2) to form potassium bromide and 5-(4,4,5,5,-tetramethyl-[1,3,2]dioxaborolan-2yl
