N-Benzyl glycine is a peptide that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against bacterial strains. It has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune diseases, and other inflammatory diseases. N-Benzyl glycine is a molecule that consists of an amino acid backbone linked to a carboxylic acid group by an amide bond. The amino acid backbone consists of an alpha carbon atom attached to a hydrogen atom, a nitrogen atom, and three other carbon atoms. The carboxylic acid group is attached to one of the other three carbons. This compound can be synthesized from sodium salts and benzyl chloride or from anhydrous sodium and hydrochloric acid.
