2-Benzyloxyethanol is a glycol ether with a hydroxyl group in the 2 position. It has been shown to have synergistic effects when mixed with a cationic surfactant and monoclonal antibody. The synergistic effect is most likely due to the hydrophobic properties of the benzyloxyethanol. This product also has an effect on the surface tension of water, which can be altered by changing the pH or adding an inorganic acid or fatty acid. The particle size of this product can be changed by adding hydrochloric acid or trifluoroacetic acid.
