1,4-Bis(hydroxydimethylsilyl)benzene is a silicon compound that is used in the production of polysiloxanes. This chemical is a colorless liquid with a constant boiling point, and it has been shown to react at a constant rate with disilane. The reaction system for this compound includes silicone as the solvent and methyl alcohol and diphenyl ether as the monomers. 1,4-Bis(hydroxydimethylsilyl)benzene can be polymerized by heating to produce linear polymers with gel permeation chromatography.
