- Benzenamine, 3-bromo-4-methoxy-
3-Bromo-4-methoxyaniline (3BMAA) is an analog of 4-bromoaniline. It has been shown that 3BMAA causes ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme csf-1r which is important for the regulation of glucose uptake and metabolism. 3BMAA also inhibits nitric oxide synthase, leading to a decrease in nitric oxide production and subsequent reduction in levels of reactive oxygen species. This inhibition leads to impairment in cellular signaling pathways, resulting in apoptosis. 3BMAA has been used as a fluorescent probe for studying kinase selectivity and other biological processes.
