Informação sobre produto
- Isoquinoline, 5-bromo-8-nitro-
5-Bromo-8-nitroisoquinoline is a drug that binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and has been shown to have antifilarial activity. It also has an affinity for dopamine receptors in the brain, which may be responsible for its neurological effects. 5-Bromo-8-nitroisoquinoline is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers, one of which is more active than the other. The inactive enantiomer (5-bromo-8-nitroisoquinoline) has a lower affinity for the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and thus does not show antifilarial activity. This drug is metabolized by liver enzymes to form hydrogenated metabolites with acanthocheilonema worms. The active enantiomer (5-bromo-8-nitroisoquinoline) inhibits dopamine release from nerve cells and prevents them from stimulating muscles, leading to paralysis of these worms
