Boc-O-2,6-dichlorobenzyl-L-tyrosine is an acceptor molecule that has a carboxylic group and a trifluoroacetic acid. It can be used for the synthesis of organic compounds by coupling with an appropriate donor molecule. Boc-O-2,6-dichlorobenzyl-L-tyrosine reacts with chloroform in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid to produce a carbonyl compound and a dicarbonate. The reaction can also be reversed by adding di-tert butyl dicarbonate in the presence of chloroform to yield a carbonyl compound and an acceptor molecule. This product is magnetic and has strong resonance peaks at 2987 cm−1, 1617 cm−1, 1604 cm−1, 1416 cm−1, 1284 cm−1, 1204 cm−1, 1097 cm
