Benzoyl-L-histidine is a derivative of the amino acid histidine, which is a regulatory molecule in biochemical reactions. It has been shown to be an isomeric form of benzoyl-L-histidine. Benzoyl-L-histidine has been shown to be oxidized by bromoacetic acid and titrated with potassium permanganate. This reaction produces a residue, which can be quantified by the use of a thiolate reagent and model system. Benzoyl-L-histidine has two isomers: monosubstituted and disubstituted. The kinetic properties of this compound have also been studied in a model protein system.
