Boc-L-tyrosine benzyl ester is a phenolic compound that is used in the synthesis of peptides. It can be prepared by acylating and hydrogenolyzing an L-tyrosine benzyl ester with piperidine in trifluoroacetic acid. This process leads to the formation of the corresponding phenol. Boc-L-tyrosine benzyl ester is resistant to fluoride ion and phosphotyrosine, which may be due to its ability to form a covalent bond with fluoride ion.
