Benzenemethanesulfonyl chloride is an organic compound that can be used in the production of amine drugs. It has been shown to inhibit bowel disease, and it is thought to work by binding to antigen-binding molecules. This drug also inhibits choroidal neovascularization, which occurs in some eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa. Benzenemethanesulfonyl chloride has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal models of inflammatory bowel disease. The mechanism of action for this drug is not well understood, but it has been shown to form stable complexes with fatty acids and 5-membered heteroaryl compounds. Benzenemethanesulfonyl chloride also reacts with amines and pyrimidine compounds, leading to irreversible inhibition of their reactions.
