2-(4-Bromophenyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine is an organic compound that has been synthesized from 2-aminobenzoyl chloride and 4-bromoaniline. This compound is a chromophore with two functional groups, which isomerizes and reacts with benzoyl chloride to form phenacyl bromide in the presence of a catalyst. The reaction time for this transformation is approximately 20 hours at room temperature. This multigram, reusable compound has been shown to be orally active and will accept electron density from acceptors such as carbonyls or hydroxyls.
