6-Bromo-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one is a quinolone that activates guanylate cyclase and inhibits the synthesis of cGMP. It has been shown to have an effect on muscle tissue at high doses. 6-Bromo-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one is used as a synthetic intermediate in the production of xanthine oxidase inhibitors. It also has been shown to be an inhibitor of soluble guanylate cyclase at low concentrations and an activator at high concentrations. 6-Bromo-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one has been shown to inhibit the activity of guanylyl cyclase in cells that are not exposed to x rays.
