It has been shown to be useful as an analyte in supercritical fluid chromatography. The compound has also been tested for use as a chiral stationary phase in high-performance liquid chromatography. (1S,2S)-1,2-Bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)ethylenediamine can be synthesized by reacting 2 equivalents of 1-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethane with 2 equivalents of diethylenetriamine.
